The author

John Craig a.k.a. Echan Deravy arrived in Japan in 1974 and spent the first fifteen years there studying, working and raising a family. From 1989 until 2001 he was based in Canada where he founded Japan Consultants Inc. During this same period he and his Osaka born wife Sanae published their first book in Japanese entitled Merging Point.

John crossed the Pacific over 60 times during this period and established himself as a public speaker. He became a leader of specialized adventure tours around the world and continued to master the language. From 2001 until 2010 he lived back in Japan where he further published and translated more than 30 books dealing primarily with human consciousness.

He now lives in Canada and regularly returns to Japan to lecture. Within days of hearing about the great earthquake and tsunami of March 11, 2011 he decided to return to Japan to offer what assistance he could. The one month he spent doing that was documented and became a book. The Tohoku Earthquake seen through a foreigner’s eyes was its English subtitle though the entire work is in Japanese only.

The Sinking Sun is John’s first book in English. Much of it will be based on the contents of the Japanese book.
